Dreyfus Ashby ‘Blason’ Négociant Range
Every merchant needs its cash-cows and Dreyfus Ashby is no exception. Commencing in the Loire, this is the beginning of what will become a range of wines sourced from key appellations throughout France.
As a specialist in the wines of the Loire, I’d like to think we know where to go looking for good wine. Our introductory duo are both sourced via Loire Properties who, with ten different operations through the region, have the economies of scale to deliver correctly priced wines for the mass market.
We’ve taken advantage of the excellent 2014 vintage to launch with an IGP Sauvignon, sourced from vineyards in Anjou, which is somewhat less fashionable (and therefore considerably less expensive) than their equivalents from Touraine.
The Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is sourced through a consortium of growers in Pallet and also shows perfect growing conditions enjoyed in the Nantais during the 2014 harvest. This is surely the time to re-discover the value delivered in this much-maligned region.
